New Music: Gary Baker "Sound Wave"

South Florida singer and rapper Gary Baker (GB), teams up with rising producer Lykia, introducing a futuristic and ambient approach to hip hop. With their brand new single “Sound Wave” now streaming on Sound Cloud, the rapper/producer duo explores depth of thought and sound to create a captivating and cutting-edge experience. Lykia, following the release of his ambient electronic debut EP State of Mind last spring, sought after an artist with lyrical depth and out of the box creativity in Baker. Baker, having just released his debut album Phenom last April, quickly rose to popularity throughout South Florida, securing his first collaboration with Lykia. Through ambient textures, abstract lyrical ideas and upbeat rhythms, the duo makes a strong entrance to the hip-hop scene, establishing themselves as artists to watch.

Baker, starting out as an acoustic artist, began writing songs in his bedroom at the age of 16. With influences from R&B and jazz, he truly solidified himself as an artist with the release of his full-length debut album Phenom last spring. With clean, jazz influenced beats and a seemingly endless amount of clever lyrics, the album was received very well by the South Florida audience and earned Baker widespread recognition as a hot up and coming act in the hip hop world. Producer Lykia, after releasing his debut ambient electronic EPState of Mind in the spring, started gaining fans and support like wildfire. With a very unique approach to production, all of Lykia’s tracks possess intoxicating atmospheric depth that creates a whole new type of listening experience. Through ambient textures, deep electronic sound design and large vocal productions, Lykia achieves intense emotion and other worldly depth through his productions. As Lykia established himself as a producer, he secured original collaborations with notable artists such as Sarah Rogers, Akacia, Ali Embry, and bass music producer Equus.
The GB and Lykia duo is definitely one to watch, and with their new single “Sound Wave” they plan to solidify themselves as high caliber artists in the hip hop world.
